Purchase the Rockford Fosgate Punch speakers P1675-S and P1675 for the H3 & H3T Hummer to get the best combination of an inexpensive price and improved sound quality. For the H3 Hummers with the Monsoon Sound System, purchase the Rockford Fosgate P3SD2-8 to replace the factory dual coil 8-inch subwoofer. Also, 2 packs of the Metra 72-4568 speaker harness adapters for GM vehicles are necessary to connect the door speakers without cutting the into the vehicle’s wires.

The pair of P1675-S Punch Speakers work the best upfront because it is a mid-range speaker with a separate tweeter for the highs. H3 & H3T Hummers have the front speakers working in combination with the OEM-equipped tweeters. To ensure that the proper frequency is being sent correctly to the speaker the speakers up front need to be mid-range. While the package does include the better quality tweeters, I have yet to install them.

In the rear of the Hummer, there are no tweeters associated with those speakers. This is why the full-range P1675 speakers should be installed in the rear doors. If Rockford Fosgate isn’t your brand, the front and rear door speakers are 6.75-inch in diameter. Make sure to grab one set of Midrange and one set of Fullrange for the best results.

The Rockford Fosgate P3SD2-8 8-inch dual coil subwoofer is a very specific choice because of the OEM speaker. While typical subwoofers have a single voice coil, dual voice coil (DVC) subwoofers use two separate voice coils, each with its own connections, mounted on one cylinder, connected to a common cone. Since the P3SD2-8 is a dual coil subwoofer this makes it very easy to swap into the factory location. I’m not aware of wiring harnesses out there, I decided to desolder the connections from the factory subwoofer and transfer the wire over to the new sub by resoldering those wires. This is the simplest solution I’ve figured out.

Overall, this is a quick upgrade to the sound system that will vastly improve the sound quality in an H3 and H3T Hummer.

    I initially upgraded my factory head unit (monsoon system) to a Kenwood DMX1037s and noticed that though the sound quality may have improved, the sound volume doesn’t appear to be as loud or as bass as it use to be. So I went Ed ahead and upgraded all the door speakers and subwoofer except for the twitters based on your recommendations. And again, found that though sound quality improved the volume seems to be low compared to original stock setup. So my next plan is to upgrade the amp but still use the factory wires and harness. Do you know if that is possible. I’m not looking to have it crazy loud and still want to retain the factory look (so no subwoofer box). Thx in advance.

      Hey AKhan! I think that the volume level issue may have to do with the module interface with the Crux SOCGM-17C wiring interface. That part should have a select switch and if not right may reduce the volume. As for upgrading the AMP, I’ve been looking into that but I’ve never found an amplifier that is exactly what I’m looking for. When reviewing the wiring harness diagrams, the amplifier has 8 channels. 2 for the tweeter, 4 for the door, and 2 for the amp. Finding an eight channel amp to fit in there is difficult, although I hope to find one some day and make a simple wiring harness for it.

    Just installed a 2-DIN 2018 Android radio I had sitting in my closet (upgraded from an aftermarket 2009 Pioneer head unit, pretty sure the factory tweeters, and door speakers are still installed, but I also have aftermarket 800w amp powering 2 subs, lately the sound has been muffed and without my deep bass. Is the factory amp and aftermarket amp fighting for power, this was a DIY, of course so I’m not sure if I may have miss wired or new a harness.

      Sounds like it’s installed wrong and the best way to fix the problem is to purchase a wiring harness from https://www.crutchfield.com/c_3/Car-Audio-Video.html. I would also recommend paying them to make it, seeing as there are currently wiring issues. The sub will need separate wires ran from the head unit all the way to the amplifier.

    I have a 2006 h3 hummer with the monsoon sound system. So all I need to purchase is the door speakers, the sub, and the speaker harness adapters. No additional parts to make them fit correctly or anything?

      The front & rear door speakers require 2 packs of the Metra 72-4568 to attach professionally. Whereas the SUB is tricky unless you’re handy with a sodering iron and then it can be made to be perfect.

        I got the sub hooked up, works well. Just ordered the P1675-S Punch Speakers. Should I eventually upgrade the amp too? What kind of amp would be best and easiest to install? Not trying to spend a lot of money but also want quality.

          Excellent! The quality of music vastly improved when I swapped out the junk factory sub. I haven’t figured out a way to upgrade the amplifier yet because I’m looking for either two small but powerful amps or one smallish 8-channel amp. I have yet to find exactly what amp I’m looking for.

    I installed the tweeters and i’m getting a constant white noise from. Any idea what this could be?

      I’ll need a bit more information to be able to help out with that. What brand tweeters? Where did they get connected? Try leaving everything unplugged from the radio, specifically a cell phone, play music using blue tooth and if you still have an issue it’s likely a grounding issue.

        They are the rockford fosgate ones that come with the door speakers. They are wired to the door speaker. It makes the sound when i’m using bluetooth or usb.

          I never used my Tweeters, so my best guess is that I would check the ground of the radio and also that the tweeters are connected the right way.

    Ok, you have a great photo of the Hummer H3 Sub Woofer “removed” shot, my question that seems to have never been posted, please tell me the the sub woofer hole depth? That’s a deal breaker if you don’t have that deep. I saw the Punch 8” 2 ohm shallow mount replacement, but my Shallow Mount Skars 8” is a little deeper requirement. Thanks for any depth details! Craig
