Momentum SA Harness

Out with the old and in with the new seems like a pretty big theme currently in my life. I just sold off both my vehicles to pay down all my credit cards. I am about to purchase an H3 Hummer that I have been clamoring about for quite some time now. I also got a new harness from Black Diamond to replace the one currently in my climbing gear, the Momentum SA Harness.
I have been looking at this harness for quite a while because I felt the harness I have was lacking compared to the ones my friends are using. There was nothing wrong with mine, just the new one’s are simply newer and by that I mean lighter, stronger, faster, sharper looking. Basically the same situation in car market year to year, something is always better in some way.
The Momentum SA Harness had one thing that did quickly push me over the edge and sort of impulse buy when I tried it on. The Harness has the new technology from black diamond called “trakFIT leg loop adjustment system,” which basically means you can adjust the leg loops in a matter of seconds. It is hard to explain with words, but I’ll try, trakFIT IS FAST! Hmm… that is close but you’ll just have to try one to see for yourself to really know.
I was disappointed to find that their sizing is completely off. To get the harness to align properly I had to buy the XL which is suppose to fit a 36-39″ waist. I am dead on a 33 in Jeans and buy 34s because I feel more comfortable in them. While the harness fits me great I feel sorry for anyone bigger than me because it just won’t fit properly on them, sorry big boned people.
Black Diamond has these features listed on the site for the harness

  • Pre-threaded SpeedAdjust buckle on waistbelt
  • Bullhorn-shaped OpenAir waistbelt built using Dual Core Construction
  • Patent-pending trakFIT leg adjustment for easy, worry-free adjustability of OpenAir leg loops
  • Adjustable releasable rear elastic riser
  • 4 pressure-molded gear loops
  • 12 kN-rated haul loop

And finally a link to the instructions located here.
I will be giving the harness a good work out next weekend when I return to Red River Gorge for Halloween weekend. So if I find any problems I’ll be sure to update this post.
Till the next Adventure, Later!
